2012 marks five decades since the introduction of the Austin AD016. In August this year, the 1100 Club is planning to hold a celebration to commemorate this milestone.
The show will be taking place at the Heritage Motor Centre located in Gaydon, Warwickshire, on the 11th and 12th of August.
Organisers are anticipating a high attendance for the show, which has already received national attention and will be even enticing classic car fans from European countries.
Antipodean visitors are also expected to travel thousands of miles in order to be present at the event, according to Classic Car Mart. This is attributed to the large number of AD016s which were sold in Australia during the period in which they were in production.
A wide range of vehicles will be featuring at the show, including the edition of the car which was originally showcased in Geneva when it was first launched.
Some of the members of the 1100 Club are participating in a road trip from Land's End to John O'Groats. They will make their way to the show following the completion of this epic journey, demonstrating that these much loved classic cars can still handle serious trips five decades on.
