An auction held at the Silverstone circuit in May will play host to a number of classic cars for sale, with the most noteworthy vehicle likely to be the Formula 3 car which was originally driven by F1 legend, Ayrton Senna.
The car itself is a 1982 Ralt RT3 and it was piloted by Senna during the first ever F3 race which he won.
Interestingly, the May 16th auction will also see the sale of another vehicle that was part of Senna's driving history, although this will come from his days as an F1 champion.
The F3 car has been extensively restored at an estimated cost of £75K, with auctioneers estimating that it could fetch upwards of £125K when it is sold next month.
The vehicle will actually be ready to race, so it is unlikely to remain idolised but unused if it is purchased by an enthusiastic new owner, who wants to recreate the feeling of being behind the wheel, as Senna once was.
Senna was killed at the age of 34 during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, but he is still thought of as one of the world's best F1 drivers and continues to be emulated to this day.
The auction is being held by Silverstone Auctions, and will take place on May 16, in The Wing building at Silverstone circuit. In the same auction is another ex-Ayrton Senna race car, a 1984 Toleman TG-184-2, placing second in the wet in the 1984 Monaco Grand Prix.
